A Tree

Flowers fall

Fruit ripens,

The fruit drops

Leaves fall,

Then, buds come out

And flowers bloom.

And so I wonder

How many times

This will go round,

Until this tree completes its task.

From Misuzuk Kaneko’s poetry book, “Rainbows on Eyelashes”

“…There are books from my world travels, which reflect the literature zeitgeist of the moment. And atop of those books, I see the purple book of translated Japanese poetry that Erin gave me while in Kochi-ken.

I flip it open saying that the poem on which I land will be the theme for this post and to my surprise it was an appropriate theme for my life at this moment. Life is funny like that sometimes.
